Benedictine is an herbal liqueur that originated in France in the 1800’s. It is made from a blend of over twenty unique herbs and spices, including ingredients such as hyssop and lemon balm. It is often served as a digestif, meant to settle the stomach after eating.
This cocktail includes some Benedictine, in addition to gin and grapefruit.
The following recipe makes 1 cocktail.
Tummy Ache
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Tanqueray Gin
- 1 oz Benedictine
- 1.5 oz freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- 1 oz soda water
- A twist of grapefruit peel, as a garnish
Instructions
- Combine the Tanqueray, Benedictine, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup in a shaker tin with ice.
- Shake for five seconds, and strain drink into chilled glasses.
- Add a splash of soda water, and serve cold, with a twist of grapefruit.
