Peaches, Maple Syrup, and Whipped Cream with Crispy Bacon
Desserts that include both sweet and savory components are exciting to create and eat! This recipe is a hybrid between peaches and cream with bacon and maple syrup. The flavors are familiar and remind me of my childhood.Cook your bacon as crispy as you like it! The following recipe provides two servings, and can easily be scaled up or down.
Ingredients
½cupheavy whipping cream
1tspwhite granulated sugar
¼tspvanilla extract
2peaches(cut into bite-sized pieces)
Leavesfrom 1 sprig of thyme
3slicesbacon
1or 2 Tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
Whisk the heavy whipping cream in a mixing bowl with the white granulated sugar and vanilla extract until you arrive at your desired whipping cream consistency.
Set the whipped cream aside in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
Combine the cut peaches with the fresh thyme leaves, and mix until the thyme is evenly distributed with the peaches.
Cook the bacon in a nonstick sauté pan over medium heat, flipping halfway through cooking.
When the bacon has reached your desired level of crispy-ness (I like mine crispy, but not too crispy!), remove the bacon from the pan and let it drain on paper towels.
When the bacon is cooked and drained, break it into small pieces.
Assemble the desserts by distributing the peaches and thyme between two serving bowls.
Add a scoop of the whipped cream from earlier.
Top each bowl with the crispy bacon bits, along with a heavy drizzle of maple syrup.
Notes
You can make the whipped cream in advance of serving. The bacon doesn’t need to be hot, and can be drained, broken into bits, and served at room temperature.
