Lemonade is a classic summer offering. But how can you make it different, more flavorful, and beautiful all at the same time? The answer is by using flowers. Many of the petals near you are edible. Adding them to the lemonade makes for a gorgeous presentation and unique flavor profile.
Hibiscus: Something like cranberry. Use dry culinary flowers
Honeysuckle: Floral with hints of cherry and pear. Fresh petals
Pansies: Taste of sweet lettuce. Add as syrup
Rose: Sweet, citrus notes, floral. In petal form, water or syrup.
Violet: Sweet, floral nectar. Fresh Picked
Now on to Lilac!
Lilacs have lemon flavor notes, which is why they’re ideal for your lemonade. And you can’t get a much simpler recipe.
Lilac Lemonade
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1 lemon, ( sliced)
- 1 ½ sugar
- 8 cups water
- 3 fresh lilac blossom heads
Instructions
- Juice the lemons
- Remove any pulp and seeds from the juice
- Set aside in the refrigerator
- Place the lilacs in a bowl of cold water (just enough to cover)
- Leave them overnight in the refrigerator
- Heat 1 cup of water and the sugar in a small saucepan until the sugar is fully integrated.
- Cool
- Slice the lemon however you wish, and place it in the pitcher
- Add the remaining ingredients (lilac, lemon juice, sugar syrup, and water.
- Put ice cubes in cups and pour out.
