Craving a little salt? Or, do you have guests coming over soon for dinner and socialization? Pretzels are an ideal vehicle for all kinds of snacks. You can use them as appetizers, too.

Craving a little salt? Or, do you have guests coming over soon for dinner and socialization? Pretzels are an ideal vehicle for all kinds of snacks. You can use them as appetizers, too.

Ingredients

Bold Pretzels

  • 1 ½ cup thin pretzels
  • 1 ½ cup mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup bagel chips
  • 1 cup cheese crackers
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 cup butter
  • cup Worcestershire sauce (more if you wish)
  • 1 ½-2 tbsp season salt
  • 1 tsp each onion and garlic powder

Pretzels with Beer Cheese

  • Box of soft pretzels
  • 8 oz chive and onion cream cheese (or garlic & herb)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • ½ cup brown ale
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ¾ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp smoky paprika
  • Salt and pepper (as desired)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Sweet n’ Salty

  • Thick sourdough pretzels
  • Chocolate square
  • Marshmallows

Instructions 

Bold Pretzels

  • Set your oven to 250F
  • Combine the first five ingredients in a large bowl suitable for mixing
  • Melt the butter
  • Add Worcestershire, season salt, garlic powder, and onion powder
  • Stir this into the pretzel mix, making sure to get everything coated evenly.
  • Spread the mix on a cookie sheet, evenly
  • Bake for an hour. Stir the mix every 15 minutes.
  • When the cheese crackers are lightly brown, remove everything from the oven
  • Cool completely
  • Transfer into a food storage bag until needed (note: you can freeze this).

Tip:

  • If you’d like a little heat, add some chipotle to your butter mix.

Pretzels with Beer Cheese

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, beer, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika
  • Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the cheeses melt and the dip is smooth.
  • Taste the dip and season with salt and black pepper according to your preference. Adjust any other seasonings if needed.
  • Transfer it into a serving dish that’s microwave safe
  • You can make the pretzels and enjoy now, or put the cheese mix in the fridge until you’re ready for it. Just warm it up first!

Tip:

  • This is great with breadsticks.

Sweet n’ Salty

  • Set the oven to 350F
  • Place the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (easy cleanup)
  • Put one piece of chocolate in the middle of each pretzel, topped by a marshmallow
  • Bake for 6 minutes until the marshmallows puff up with golden edges.
  • Cool
  • If you wish, press another pretzel on top for a sandwich.

Tip:

  • Use various kinds of chocolate - white, almond, toffee, caramel, etc.
