Angostura Bitters Fizz

Angostura bitters have an incredibly complex and intriguing flavor profile. When added as an ingredient in a simple cocktail like an old fashioned, it adds welcome herbal notes and a hint of bitterness.
This recipe celebrates all that Angostura Bitters have to offer, with the bitters themselves serving as the featured cocktail ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz freshly-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz Angostura Bitters
  • ½ oz Grenadine
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 oz club soda, (cold)
  • 1 thin slice of lime, (as garnish)

Instructions 

  • Combine the freshly-squeezed lime juice, Angostura Bitters, Grenadine, and egg white in a dry shaker.
  • Add shaker top to close, and shake without ice for 60 seconds.
  • Add ice to mixture, and shake for an additional 60 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture through a small fine mesh strainer into chilled glasses.
  • Top with the club soda and garnish with a small slice of lime.

Notes

It’s easiest to build these cocktails one at a time, as it gets difficult to aerate the egg whites when you have too much liquid in the shaker.
