Angostura bitters have an incredibly complex and intriguing flavor profile. When added as an ingredient in a simple cocktail like an old fashioned, it adds welcome herbal notes and a hint of bitterness. This recipe celebrates all that Angostura Bitters have to offer, with the bitters themselves serving as the featured cocktail ingredient.
Ingredients
1ozfreshly-squeezed lime juice
1oz Angostura Bitters
½ ozGrenadine
1egg white
2ozclub soda,(cold)
1thin slice of lime,(as garnish)
Instructions
Combine the freshly-squeezed lime juice, Angostura Bitters, Grenadine, and egg white in a dry shaker.
Add shaker top to close, and shake without ice for 60 seconds.
Add ice to mixture, and shake for an additional 60 seconds.
Strain the mixture through a small fine mesh strainer into chilled glasses.
Top with the club soda and garnish with a small slice of lime.
Notes
It’s easiest to build these cocktails one at a time, as it gets difficult to aerate the egg whites when you have too much liquid in the shaker.
