Bacon wrapped dates

If you’re looking for a simple, yummy finger food, you’ll love these bacon-wrapped dates. They’re stuffed with chive cream cheese, blanketed in bacon, and then brushed with maple syrup before cooking. Four ingredients; little hassle.
To personalize this recipe, you can make some substitutions.
Cheese: Fontina, mozzarella, gouda, Munster
Wrapping: Prosciutto or pancetta
Spices: Sprinkle the dates with a pinch of ground cinnamon, smoked paprika, or cayenne pepper for a hint of warmth and complexity.
Balsamic Glaze: After baking, drizzle the bacon-wrapped dates with a balsamic glaze to add another layer of flavor.
Maple syrup: Honey
They’re irresistible!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz chive or garlic-flavored cream cheese
  • 24-32 pitted dates**
  • 1 lb bacon (regular cut)
  • Maple syrup (real)
  • ** Depending on how generously you fill the dates (the general ratio is 1 ounce of cream cheese per 3 to 4 dates.)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375F.
  • Stuff each date with the cream cheese. A piping bag is a fantastic helpmate for this step.
  • Wrap each date with a half-slice of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.
  • Place the bacon-wrapped dates on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Use a pastry brush to apply maple syrup to each.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is crispy, turning the dates over halfway through.

Notes

Remove them from the oven and cool on a wire rack before serving. Put some aside for yourself; these go quickly.
