Honey garlic chicken is a simple, family-friendly dinner with tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory sauce. Serve it with rice and steamed broccoli for an easy meal that feels better than takeout.

Ingredients

  • 1½ pounds boneless (skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-size pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)

  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions (optional)
  • Cooked rice and steamed vegetables (for serving)

Instructions

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper, then toss with cornstarch until lightly coated.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and cooked through.
  • In a small bowl, whisk honey, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, and water.
  • Add garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds. Pour in the sauce.
  • Reduce heat to medium and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired. Serve hot with rice and vegetables.
