Off to the Races

This simple cocktail includes bourbon, lime juice, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and a few dashes of orange bitters.
The following recipe makes 1 cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 oz bourbon of choice
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • 2 dashes of orange bitters
  • 1 oz club soda
  • 1 slice of fresh orange, as garnish

Instructions 

  • Chill a rocks glass in the freezer.
  • Combine the bourbon, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, lime juice, and orange bitters in a shaker with ice.
  • Shake for five seconds.
  • Strain into a chilled rocks glass, over ice.
  • Top with a splash of club soda.
  • Garnish with a slice of fresh orange.

Notes

If you prefer a cocktail with less sweetness, cut down on the quantity of simple syrup.
